I am a male Mosotho, born in 1968. I am a holder of a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Management from the National University of Lesotho. I have worked in the civil service for five years immediately after graduation, and since then I have held various middle and senior management positions in the Lesotho Water and Sewerage Authority, the Lesotho Revenue Authority. I have also been the COO of a private company, Select Management Services Lesotho, a fully owned subsidiary of the African Alliance Group of Companies, a investment banking entity.
Since 2009 I have been in the employ of the Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC) as the Management Accounting Manager.
Currently I am acting in the position of General Manager Finance, tasked with the overall responsibility of managing the finance division, which encompasses Management and financial accounting, procurement and treasury departments.
Lesotho Electricity Company is the electricity utility company 100% owned the Government of Lesotho. It was established in 1969 and is responsible for transmission, distribution and supply of Electricity within Lesotho. LEC has about 230 000 customers and about 550 employees. its peak power was 156 MW in winter of 2017. 66 % of electrical energy is obtained from local generation while 33% is being imported from neighbouring countries, namely South Africa and Mozambique.
LEC is a member of South African Power Pool since its establishment in 1995 and participate in trading in the pool.
The company has a challenge of old network which need to be refurbished, expansion of network to facilitate more connections, construction of own generating facilities to reduce import of electricity and is a need to develop skills of its technical staff. Access to finances are the only solution to Lesotho electricity company problems.
